ILDA Members are invited to a demonstration of a real-time audience scanning measurement system developed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology — their equivalent of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Please use the "Register" button at left, to reserve your spot for this event. You can have guests; we ask that they be employees of a Member. There is a limit of 20 total registrants.
ABOUT LASRA
The Laser Show Risk Analyzer (LASRA) consists of software and a fast photodetector. There are two steps: 1) calibration and setup where LASRA sends specific signals to the laser head and measures the response, and 2) actual real-time analysis where the show controller inputs into LASRA which then examines every location to see if a given irradiance is exceeded. If so, the frame is recorded for later analysis (e.g., where in the frame were the hot spots).
A scientific paper with the full description of LASRA can be downloaded from here.
Note that this is not a commercial product, but it is envisioned for use — in Switzerland at least — to evaluate a laser show in advance, to ensure it complies with safety laws.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and be involved. A big "thank you" to Greg Makhov of LSDI for hosting at his facility.
